Steel Bridges
Beschrijving
B4-2:
The content of the units is defined within 2 themes:
Theme 1: Steel and hybrid bridges - Structural design of steel bridges - Bridge loads, traffic accounting and analysis - Design verifications of steel bridge elements - Advanced bridge analysis - Execution and details of steel bridges - Renovation and maintenance of steel bridges
Theme 2: Supporting structures for renewable energy - Hollow section steel joints in jacket structures- Monopile supporting structures for wind turbines and connections.
Toetsing
B4-2:
LO1,2,5,6,7: Application of theoretical background, design and problem-solving skills are tested in open-book written exam with open-ended questions related to steel bridges and wind turbine supporting structures.
LO3,4,7,8: The assessment of design and analysis skills and collaborative work are tested through an integral report on analysis and calculations that connect content of all 3 modules. Part of the report related to unit 2 will focus on analysis and verification of limit states (ultimate, serviceability, fatigue) of critical cross section or component of a steel bridge and wind turbine tower. The FE analysis from unit 1 will be implement in the report and compare the engineering tools and design verification standard.
