Railway Traffic Management
Beschrijving
Railway timetabling:
Microscopic and macroscopic rail traffic simulation models
Timetable design techniques and optimization models
Timetable assessment using microscopic simulation
Energy-efficient train operation
Real-time railway traffic management:
Driver Advisory Systems
Disruption management
Train delay prediction and analysis using a statistical train delay analysis tool
Railway traffic management systems
Conflict detection and resolution
Simulation-based assessment of traffic management strategies
This elective will include discussions about societal impacts of advanced tools and techniques for train service planning and management. Students will be aware of responsibilities and ethical implications in using automated decision support systems in rail traffic planning/management practice. Roles and responsibilities of railway stakeholders in planning / managing rail traffic will be tackled together with interaction processes during nominal and degraded operational conditions.
