Fire Safety Design
Beschrijving
The course will contain classroom lectures to explain the aspects that have to be regarded to make a fire safe design.
The content will be delivered by experts on construction materials form TU Delft and experts from industry on fire physics, fire testing, fire safety measurements and fire safety engineers.
The content will address:
- Background of the fire safety regulations according to national and European laws.
- Introduction into fire physics. Standard and natural fire curves. Thermal loading. Theoretical and numerical methods to predict the fire development and temperature distribution in compartments.
- Explanation in the difference in Resistance to Fire and Reaction to fire, and testing methods to determine these properties.
- Smoke control and smoke propagation. Escape scenarios and human behaviour. ASET and RSET. Active and passive fire safety measurements.
- Response of construction materials steel, timber and concrete to thermal loading. Contribution of the construction material to the fire loading.
- Design and verification rules for construction materials steel, timber and fire under thermal loading.
- Fire Safety Engineering: Risk analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of fire safety measures.
