River Engineering
Beschrijving
HE Module B2 consists of three units:
B2-1. Physics of River Systems (4EC), which focusses on the physics of river systems and their response to anthropogenic or natural change;
B2-2. River Functions and Management (6EC), which provides students with a broad knowledge on the wide range of purposes or functions of a river system (flood safety, navigation, freshwater availability, nature, etc) and stakeholders, as well as river interventions;
B2-3. Schematization and Modelling of River Problems (5EC), which teaches students how to schematize and simplify a river-related problem, formulate research questions and alternative solutions, assess the problem using appropriate tools (such as modelling and monitoring), propose a solution and mitigate unwanted impact.
Toetsing
Unit B2-1: Physics of River Systems - Oral Exam (26,7%)
Unit B2-2: River Functions en Management - Portfolio (40%)
Unit B2-3: Schematization and Modelling of River Problems - Portfolio (33.3%)
A successful participation in the module, requires a minimum evaluation of 5.8 in each of the 3 units.
There will be a resit opportunity for the oral exam.
A minimum grade of 5.8 is required for all individual components of both portfolios. If the grade of a portfolio component is less than 5.8, you will get the opportunity to submit a revised version and defend it orally. The maximum grade of that component will then be a 6.0.
For more information on grading, see article 14 in the Rules and Guidelines (RGBE):
