Advanced Computation Mechanics
Beschrijving
The course is composed of three thematics relating to advanced computational mechanics concepts: multiphysics, multiscale and optimisation.
The first three weeks will consist of lectures to give an overview about each of those concepts which includes:
Multiphysics: physical equations coupling, interface coupling (such as fluid-structure interaction)
Multiscale: homogenisation methods, mixed-dimensionality (such as Discrete Fracture Network)
Optimisation: softening regularisation, machine learning
During those weeks, you will decide on one of those topics for your project. In the following weeks, you will gather a literature review on the method selected, and run simulations implementing the method. The project is kept on track with a weekly follow-up by the project supervisor. Eventually, a report in the format of an academic paper needs to be submitted for the assessment.
The last weeks of the course consist of presentations of the projects to the whole class.
