Reactors and Kinetics
Beschrijving
Kinetics
- Homogeneous reactions: Equilibrium and kinetics
- Heterogeneous reactions: Adsorption, surface reactions, kinetics
- Catalysis: Transport limitations, effectiveness, heat effects, catalyst deactivation
Reactors
- Brief review of conversion and selectivity in ideal reactor types
- Energy balance and isothermal/non-isothermal reactors
- Non-ideal reactors and residence time distribution
- Fixed-bed reactors: Transport limitations
- Advanced reactors such as fluidised-bed reactors and/or reactors used in industry
Toetsing
The final grade is based on:
- Mid-term computer exam (35%);
- Final written exam (50%) that is based on theory (no coding/programming);
- Results of multiple exercises/homeworks that involve analytical problems and programming (15%).
Re-examination is possible for both the mid-term computer exam and final written exam. The weight within the final grade will be the same as in the first exam, 35% and 50 %, respectively. Only the exam with the highest grade will be considered for the final grade calculation.
Permitted materials during tests:
During mid-term computer exam, course slides will be provided as supporting material.
