Advanced Practical I.o.T. and Seminar

This course is composed of a series of seminars by students related to the broad topic of the Internet of Things. Students are asked to find a paper to present and try to improve their presentation skills. Further, during this activity, students will learn how to quickly find the paper of interest.
Next, students will work on an IoT project, where a new idea is implemented and tested, and may be 3D printed or a compact PCB is developed. At the end, they are asked to present their results on investigations, implementations, or user studies. Students may also select a paper for the seminar and may implement the IoT project/research from the paper or a possible extension of the ideas in the chosen paper.
This course is a Hands-On course.

The seminar and the projects are usually done in a group of 2. Exceptions are allowed upon request and after discussions with the instructor.

Part 1: Assessment based on presentation quality, slides, Q/A, constructive criticisms, ideas for improvements, etc.

Part 2: Project execution in a group, implementation, demonstration, Q/A, and a report describing the outcome of the assigned project.

Part 1: 30% of the total marks

Part 2: 60% of the total marks: In the assessment, a focus on the practicality and entrepreneurial aspect of the idea will prevail. A working model, demonstration, and a report are expected. Individual Q/A after demonstrations will be part of the assessment.

Part 3: Up to 10% marks would be awarded if the report is detailed above the minimum expected, and the eligibility of the work to be ready for submission to a conference/journal.

Report will not have individual component, however, Q/A may have individual component.

Please NOTE: There would be no resit since this is a hands-on course being executed in a team. As this is a project-based course, there is no official resit scheduled. Instead, an opportunity will be given to improve the work according to the prevailing norms.
