Beschrijving

The course Effective & Responsible Engineering provides students with a firm grounding for working on their master’s thesis project. The course consists of three parts. In Academic Writing, they will learn to write about their research on an academic level, in writing a literature review on a subject connected to their specialisation. The module will help them prepare for their master’s thesis, both in skills and in content, as the literature review is intended to help them with a first exploration of the field that they might choose for the thesis. In Ethics, students will learn to apply the method of value-sensitive design to approach an ethical issue of their choice in engineering. They will work on a case study about this problem and their proposed solution, bearing the interests of all stakeholders in mind. In Oral Presentations, students will learn to deliver convincing and compelling presentations, incorporating feedback from the lecturer and peers. At the end of the module, they will present an ethical engineering issue and how to solve it.

All activities in this course have compulsory attendance.
