Open Urban Data Governance (discontinued)
Beschrijving
This course offers an exploration of data practices in the urban environment, viewed through the lens of critical data studies. Students will gain an understanding of the organizational structures, legal frameworks, and ethical considerations involved in the collection, processing, sharing, and application of individual datasets.
Emphasizing a hands-on, practical approach, the course explores the concept of urban digital twins—virtual representations of physical urban environments that integrate real-time and historical data. Students will acquire an understanding how these digital replicas can be used to analyze, simulate, and inform decision-making processes in urban planning and sustainability.
Working in small groups, students will apply open urban (geo)data to investigate and address a social sustainability challenge within the built environment. Through this project-based learning, they will engage directly with digital twin methodologies, gaining practical experience in processing urban data to reach actionable insights.
