Beschrijving
Initiated by staff members from the Departments of U, MBE, A and AE&T, this research and design project is a collaboration with the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, the TU Delft Campus Real Estate & Facility Management, the TU Delft Hortus, the Municipality of Delft, and other societal partners. In the course, students explore the development of a sustainable working and living environment, by using the TU Delft campus as a realistic case study. The course aims to develop a transdisciplinary learning environment where students from different disciplines work together with societal stakeholders. ECO- campus is seen as a canvas for identifying the complex interdependencies and synergetic potential of three domains: circularity, society, and ecology.
Toetsing
Students will be given both formative and summative assessments at specific points during the 10 weeks.
Students will be assessed on the following four deliverables:
1. The evaluation framework of ecology, circularity and society
2. Comprehensive maps of the current status of TU Delft campus people, resources and spaces
3. Design scenarios for the TU Delft campus that integrate ecology, circularity and society prerogatives
4. An individual reflective report on how the evaluation framework has guided decision-making and how the co-developing processes with the involved stakeholders influenced the ultimate proposed course of action.
To ensure that student grading will be individual, students will change working groups during phase a (mapping) and phase b (futuring).
Overall, projects will be evaluated across the following three questions:
Q1 | Is the project informed by scientific-societal exchanges?
Q2 | Is the project interconnecting all three domains? / How does the project relate to the assessment framework co-developed by everyone involved from the beginning of the course?
Q3 | Is the project thoroughly explained/represented?
Students pass the course with a 6.0 or higher. With a lower grade, the course can be repaired to change the grade into a pass. The repair is unsupervised and needs to be completed within 2 weeks after the end of the course. When the repair is unsuccessful, the student needs to follow the entire course again, or possibly another Q5 elective in the third education period.
