Delta Infrastructure and Environment Design/Delta Futures Lab
Beschrijving
Initiated by staff members from the Department of U, this research and design project is a collaboration grounded in the Delta Futures Lab, with the Faculties of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, and Technology, Policy and Management. It aims at reparative interventions in deltaic areas where the environmental crisis is apparent due to imbalance between environment and infrastructure. In the course, students with backgrounds in spatial design and in engineering rethink these infrastructures from an interdisciplinary design perspective, integrating the genius loci of the spatial assembly of the system to reach a resilience in relation to natural hazards. The course will respond directly to societal challenges (working for a ‘client’).
Toetsing
The result of the course is a group research report (30% is group results and 70% is individual results) in which the individual and integrated results are clearly indicated. Group size: 3 to 5 students.
There is a rubric, that will be shared with the enrolled students, that indicates clear the expectation on individual and group level that will be used to assess the assignments.
Students pass the course with a 6.0 or higher. With a lower grade, the course can be repaired to change the grade into a pass. The repair is unsupervised and needs to be completed within 2 weeks after the end of the course. When the repair is unsuccessful, the student needs to follow the entire course again, or possibly another Q5 elective in the third education period.
