Proseminar

In this seminar-based course, students focus on issues related to the transformation of the contemporary built environment, developing knowledge that better bridges speculative and actual architectural production. Students engage in a collaborative educational process in order to contribute to a deeper understanding of the themes at hand.

Through reading and seminar discussions students will be introduced to the literature on cross- and interculturalism. They will be asked to become familiar with the main concepts of the field of cross-cultural studies (transculturation, hybridity, mitigation, etc) and will relate these to contemporary theories from architects and urban designers (the generic city, the city of flows, critical regionalism, etc).
