Resourceful Reuse of Heritage Graduation Studio
Beschrijving
Heritage approaches promote a circular economy by preserving resources and reducing waste. This studio focuses on designing interventions for preserving and improving buildings. Through research on both present values and future needs, students develop a design strategy that ensures the building’s longevity. The central challenge involves assessing and reusing tangible and intangible resources. Students engage in thematic research regarding the continuous use of buildings. Within this focus, they assess building conditions and stakeholders’ valuations of case studies and individually formulate a design strategy (A1). Students elaborate their strategy, exploring concepts like material harvesting, conservation methods, spolia, etc. (A2), they develop and test their design and assess its ecological and heritage impact (A3).
