Beschrijving

This course is titled Building Economics (5ects) and deals with relevant financial and economic concepts that are essential for understanding the built environment. The course focusses on real estate markets and includes: real estate financial modelling, investment decisions in real estate, the relationship between real estate markets and the macro-economy, urban economic models and patterns and the relation of real estate markets and financialisation. The course objectives are focused on the development of both knowledge and (financial modelling and debating) skills and takes the format of a blended learning course design whereby online and on-campus study activities are combined.

Toetsing

Three assessment methods are employed that together determine the total weighted average grade of the course:

  • Theory examination - on-campus computer exam [weight 50%] - retake next quarter

  • Calculation skills examination - on-campus computer exam / [weight 35%] - retake next quarter

  • Financialisation (group) assignment [weight 15%] - repair option in case of fail. [Repair grade is a maximum 6 and needs to be completed within an indicated time slot after release of final grade]

The maximum marking period is 10 working days.

Minimum score for each assessment is a 5.00 - only a grade from 5.00 and above can be compensated by the other grades according to their weight.
