Research Methods 1

In this course, students acquire methodological knowledge and practice their research design skills through designing their own research proposal on a relevant MBE topic. In this proposal, there needs to be a methodological fit between the research design components such as the research question(s), logic(s) of inquiry, theoretical framework, and methods of data collection. A data management plan and a reflection on research ethics are also included in the research proposal.

Written assignment (100% of the final grade).

The course is assessed based on a written assignment (100% of the final grade). The assignment is awarded a grade that is a whole or half number between 1.0 and 10.0.

Students pass the course with a grade of 6.0 or higher. Students with a grade below 6.0 can repair their assignment in Q2, on the condition that an assessable assignment was handed in during Q1.

Students who successfully repair their assignment in Q2 will receive a ‘pass’. An assignment can be repaired only once. If the repair is unsuccessful, the student needs to follow the entire course again.
