Artificial Intelligence for Physicists
Beschrijving
This course is part of the Applied Physics Programme and the main concepts are introduced through the lens of physics questions
In this class the most fundamental and important concepts of artificial intelligence (AI) methods will be introduced for physics students. We will discuss multiple AI methods and offer hands-on opportunities of applying these methods in physics problems.
Specifically, the class will focus on the following content:
1. Basic concepts of artificial intelligence and machine learning
2. Supervised and unsupervised learning
3. Fully connected and convolutional neural networks (CNN)
4. Generative models
5. Applications to physics
Toetsing
40% homework assignments
60% group project with Python implementation and written report
A passing grade for the course can only be obtained if a score of at least 5.0 is obtained for both the assignments and the project.
