Theoretical Concepts of Quantum Hardware
Beschrijving
Quantum hardware is what turns the novel concepts of quantum computation and communication into reality. The key challenge is to control, couple, transmit and read out the fragile state of quantum systems with great precision, and in a technologically viable way.
Theoretical Concepts of Quantum Hardware is focused on teaching theoretical physics concepts for understanding this Hamiltonian engineering challenge in various quantum hardware platforms. The material will be taught using example systems such as superconducting qubits, spin qubits and trapped-ion qubits.
Toetsing
Both hand-in assignments during the course and a final written exam will contribute to the final assessment of the course. Specifically, hand-in assignments will contribute 30% and the final written exam 70% of the final grade.
Feedback on the hand-in assignments will be provided on a weekly basis and should help prepare students for the final exam.
