Quantum Transport
Beschrijving
The goal of the course is to present the fundamental concepts of Quantum Transport that have influenced all fields of nanoscience rather than concrete experimental techniques. Nevertheless, the intended audience are experimentalists. It is similar in approach to a modern Electromagnetism course where a lot is told about magnetic field and a little about winding the magnetic coils.
Topics: electrons as scattered waves, quantum interference, quantum mechanics vs Ohm's law, quantum circuit theory, Coulomb blockade, quantum transport in superconducting devices, Josephson effect and Coulomb blockade, weak localization and conductance fluctuations, interference in quantum dots, qubits, quantum transport and environment, dissipation decoherence and dephasing.
