Bachelor Thesis

The course content depends on the actual project and is described separately for each project on a yearly basis in Brightspace

The thesis:
The student writes a report referred as Bachelor Thesis. The report is assessed by an assessment committee composed of the certified supervisors. Additional members can join the assessment committee and grade the student if they comply with the rules of the Board of Examiners (Art 23 - https://www.tudelft.nl/studenten/faculteiten/citg-studentenportal/onderwijs/onderwijsinformatie/educational-rules-and-regulations). If additional members do not comply with the rules of the Board of Examiners, they can join the deliberation as advisor, but they are not grading the student.

The final Bachelor Thesis must be uploaded on OnStage at least two days before the defense to be checked for plagiarism (turn-it in, requirement to be checked in Brightspace Bachelors Graduation Project Manual). The student must upload the receipt into OnStage, as well as a self-reflection.

The defense:
Before the end of week 9 of each quarter or of week 5.2 for the students following the FEP in Q4, the students defend their Bachelor thesis research in front of the assessment committee. The defense presentation is completed by the student using a visual support (power point). The duration of the presentation is limited to 15 minutes. Each presentation is followed by 15 minutes of scientific questions about the performed research from the audience and assessment committee. After the defense it is of the responsibility of the student to upload her/his Bachelor Thesis presentation into OnStage

Judgement:
The students research is judged following six rubrics: research approach (10%), profoundness (30%), evaluation of the results (20%), organization (5%), written report (25%) and oral presentation (10%). The description of the various categories is available upon request.

The Bachelor Thesis and the Bachelor Thesis defense are assessed independently following the same rubrics. The final grade is an average of the thesis (written) and presentation (oral) grade. No specific weighting is applied.

The rubrics with the motivation of the judgement must be signed by the reviewers and uploaded by the supervisor(s) at the end of week 9 at the latest (or at the end of week 5.2 in Q4 for the student having completed their FEP). The results are then uploaded into Osiris
