Wind Turbine Aeroelasticity
Beschrijving
The course will cover the main structural and aerodynamic phenomena of wind turbine aeroelasticity. The students will program models to evaluate these phenomena and deepen their understanding.
We will explore the following questions:
1. What are the key characterized parameters for an aeroelastic system?
2. How to construct a structural model of a wind turbine blade?
3. How to define if resonance occurs to a system and understand its relevance to wind turbines and how to mitigate it?
4. How to define if instability occurs to a system and its relevance to wind turbines and understand the role of aerodynamic damping?
5. Dynamic inflow and dynamic stall.
6. How to construct an aeroelastic model by coupling the structural and aerodynamic effects?
