Industrial Composite Manufacturing

The course deepens the understanding on different composite manufacturing technologies for aerostructures used at the industrial scale and addresses on specific challenges evoked especially by automation and large part size. Special pitfalls with respect material selection, mould design, process induced part distortion and vacuum setup are discussed to apply the basic understanding of the manufacturing processes to several specific industrial challenges. Finally, these manufacturing processes are also evaluated with respect their sustainability and are investigated in depth towards their energy, materials and auxiliaries consumption in context of the product life cycle.
