Planetary Exploration
Beschrijving
Planetary science is a major interdisciplinary field, combining aspects of astrophysics with geology, geophysics, meteorology, atmospheric and space science. This close relationship to geophysics, atmospheric and space sciences implies that the study of the planety bodies in our Solar System and beyond offers the unique opportunity for comparison available to Earth scientists. This course teaches the concepts in the planetary physical sciences and solar system properties. The learning process is greatly enhanced by involving students in solving related problems.
Toetsing
The final grade for the planetary sciences course is determined from:
- mark of a written exam
- mark for mandatory assignments
The mark for the written exam needs to be 5.0 or higher in all cases, no exceptions.
If the mark for the exam is 5.0 or higher, grading for this course follows from averaging two parts with equal (so 0.5) weight: the mark for the classroom/take home exercises and the mark for the written exam.
No opportunity will be given to redo the classroom/take home exercises within the same academic year.
The grade for the clasroom/homework assignments will remain valid for the next consecutive academic year, and so will annul the year thereafter
