Fundamentals of Aeroacoustics

Aeroacoustics is one of the most important challenges for engineering students approaching either an industrial or an academic career in propulsion, wind energy and aerodynamics. The aim of the course Fundamentals of Aeroacoustics is to provide the students with a fundamental knowledge to model and predict aerodynamic noise generation and propagation. In particular, students will learn how to:
describe how aerodynamic noise is generated and radiated;
identify the most important sound generation mechanisms in practical situations and select the suitable aeroacoustic model to describe those mechanisms;
setup a numerical simulation to predict the noise generated by elementary unsteady flows.
