Fundamentals of Wind Energy II

This course introduces the topic of offshore wind energy production from the perspective of a wind turbine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The main questions covered in the course are:

- Why harvest offshore wind energy?

- What are key components of a wind turbine?

- What are objectives and steps in the wind turbine design process?

- What are key technical, economic and social acceptance related challenges and opportunities for offshore wind energy?

- What are current trends and emerging technologies in offshore wind energy?

The final assessment is a written exam. In special cases, for example few participants in a resit, an oral exam can be given instead.
