Statics
Beschrijving
Statics is a fundamental engineering course that covers the principles of forces, moments, and equilibrium that form the basis of most engineering analysis. Within this course, these principals will be introduced and applied to numerous idealizations of engineering structures/systems, including:
Rigid particles
Rigid 2-D bodies
Rigid 3-D bodies
Trusses
Frames and machines
In addition to being able to analyses each of these idealizations, a strong emphasis on the their impact on applicability of the result to a real structure/system will be discussed. In other words, an implicit learning outcome for this course is for students to critically reflect on the impact of modelling assumptions on the applicability of the results of that model.
