Beschrijving

You will learn skills to register the geometry of engineering solutions. You will train professional sketching techniques by doing assignments. You will get acquainted with the conventions for technical drawings and you will make computer based 3D models and drawings of Aerospace related parts and assemblies.

The skills you learn will be used in the course of your education in projects and other assignments where the geometry of a design needs to be documented.

The course has three main components:

1. Basic Sketching.

2. Common Conventions for Technical Drawings.

3. 3D CAD using the 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA software.

Assessments:

During the course the student will be asked to upload a selection of the work to the Sketchdrive® platform each week. This will allow the sketching staff to give the student feedback and set a grade as the student progresses.

Basic Sketching will be graded based on the indicated Workbook Sketchdrive® assignments. The assessment criteria are:

  • Presence of straight lines and fluent circles and ellipses

  • Application of the ellipse rule

  • Application of perspective (general)

  • Ability of adopting perspective from a given starting point

  • Correct shading of cubical items

  • Correct shading of cylindrical items

  • Application of efficient colored backgrounds

  • Use of arrows, text and bullets for storytelling

Common Conventions for Technical Drawings will be graded based on the result of the summative computer test assignment.

The CAD grade is determined by the different subgrades:

  • Assignment 8 Detail Drawing.

  • Assignment 9 Assembly Drawing.

  • Final Synthesis Assignment.
